The Vintage Village Strawberry Studios Fair

The Vintage Village Strawberry Studios Fair

When: Sunday 9th April 2017, 10.00am to 4.00pm.
Where: Stockport Covered Market Hall SK1 1EU.
How much: £2.00 entry, concessions £1.50, under 12s FREE!

What do Joy Division, Neil Sedaka, John Cooper Clarke and St Winifred’s School Choir have in common?  They all recorded at Strawberry Recording Studios right here in Stockport!

Established in October 1967 by members of the hugely successful Manchester band 10CC, Strawberry Recording Studios offered world-class recording facilities and welcomed a diverse range of musicians over its 26 years of existence.

Stockport Museum has an excellent, must-see exhibition - Strawberry Studios: I Am In Love - marking the 50th anniversary of its opening, and if you’ve got a Vintage Village handstamp they will let you in through a secret door so you can access it directly without having to walk through the rest of the museum.  If you’re short of time, it’s a good way to catch the show, although we recommend the rest of the museum as well worth seeing too!

Over at Seven Miles Out they’re presenting Strawberry Sunday during our fair.  From 1.30pm historian Peter Wadsworth will talk about Strawberry Studios and its contribution to Manchester music from 1976 onwards, conjuring up names such as The Buzzcocks, John Cooper Clarke and legendary producer Martin Hannett.  Joining him will be Stockport-born writer and journalist Mick Middles.  Expect plenty of fascinating anecdotes and insights!

Of course, we’ve got an astonishing plethora of vintage for your perusal too, including clothing and accessories for ladies and gentlemen, jewellery, homeware, decorative items, textiles, small furniture, luggage, toys, ephemera, books, collectables and bizarrities - we never know what to expect from the amazing traders we are lucky enough to host here at Stockport’s Covered Market Hall.

Plus the new VE (Vintagexplorer) magazine will be available for FREE - find it at 20th Century Stores, only a few steps away from us on the Market Place.

Excellent refreshments are available all day from Sheila's Pies and the world-class, multi-award-winning King of Kakes Stuart Thornley Cake Design.
