Style Me Vintage - Home book, £14.99 (with author’s signature!) from Keeley Harris (aka Discover Vintage and Vintage Home Emporium):
A new product, but a great find, is Keeley’s new book Style Me Vintage – Home. Keeley is an all-round vintage specialist and event organiser with incredible taste. Her new book is an absolute delight, filled with gorgeous pictures and sneaky peeks into beautifully styled vintage homes. A brilliant resource for vintage enthusiasts and traders.
1950s-60s ceramic dancing cat, £8.00 from T.E.A.:
Our trader neighbour (and long-time sufferer of Steve’s jokes), the very lovely Laura from T.E.A., always has cute bits and bobs and this dancing kittie caught my eye immediately. An absolute bargain at £8.00, and look at Laura … isn’t she pretty!
1970s floral print dresses, £20.00 each from Kinky Melon’s Retro Boutique:
As a 1950s loving girl I’m often horrified by some of the garish colours and patterns from the later end of the 20th Century but 1970s loving siren and good friend, Vix, from the fabulous Kinky Melon’s Retro Boutique, always seduces me with her great taste in funky floral prints. If only we could all rock the 1970s look as well as she does! These frocks tell me Spring is on its way!
1950s Italian ceramic spaghetti poodle, £5.00 from Gem’s Bits n Bobs; 1950s gold plastic poodle brooch, £5.00 from TinTrunk:
One thing I’m always on the look-out for is more poodles to add to my constantly growing collection! There is so much to look at - it takes time to seek out all the treasures at VV - and it wasn’t until the last half an hour that I spotted this poodle brooch from TinTrunk, and my final purchase and Find of the Day was this Italian spaghetti poodle from Gems Bits n Bobs. At £10.00 for both items it’s always possible to find affordable items. Just another reason why we love VV!
If you’d like to take a leisurely look at our wares, you can visit www.boomerangvintage.co.uk or we have a shop in Hednesford, Staffordshire that is open by appointment. You can also keep up to date with all our new stock and events on our Facebook page and Instagram.
Hello! I’m Lyndsey. You might recognise me as one half of vintage loving duo and regular traders, Boomerang Vintage & Retro.Huge thanks to Lyndsey for such a distinctive and stylish selection this month! Don't forget us when you're sending out those wedding invitations!
One of things that initially drew us to Stockport (we’re based in Staffordshire) was the fabulous quality of items on offer. There is always an impressive selection of clothes, vinyl and books but it’s the homewares that we love and boy, is there a lot to choose from!
As March was our 15th visit to VV, I thought it was about time that I took my turn as the Finder of the Fair and what an honour it was. Personally, I’m a fan of 1950s style and design but if an item gets my heart beating a little bit faster I don’t care what decade it’s from!
Here are my Finds! Enjoy x
1950s photo album, £6.00 from Garbo Antiques:
As a lover of 1950s-60s atomic design, this vinyl pattern jumped out at me straight away! On closer inspection I discovered it was an unused photo album and at £6.00 it had to come home with us. We’re saving this beauty which will, one day, become our wedding album.
1950s-60s Formica table with chairs, £85.00 from Vintage Things Forever:
I think my Formica fetish has been well documented by now but when I saw this gorgeous table with matching chairs I was instantly in love. One of the great things about VV is that you can pick up anything from tables to tea cups and if I needed more furniture in my life I’d have snapped this up. A great price too.
1970s Parker Knoll swivelling and reclining easy chair, £250.00 from Whittaker & Grey:
Whittaker & Grey always have amazing stock and this Parker Knoll egg style chair is a perfect example of their fabulous taste. The colour is bang on trend this season so I don’t think this will be available for long!
1950s Lazy Susan, £30.00 from RetroFunky:
Boomerang and RetroFunky have very similar taste in mid-century homeware and retro kitsch so I spend a lot of time each month drooling over their stock. This Lazy Susan has been given a new lease of life with a piece of gorgeous, orange, boomerang style fabric. This very nearly came home with us and if they still have it next month, it probably will!
Not strictly a find but I had to mention that there are always some fab canine characters at VV, including the very beautiful Blue the poodle!
