We were privileged to welcome Stockport Plaza Super Cinema and Variety Theatre as our special guest for the Super Plaza Fair, themed in honour of its 81st birthday.
Well, of course, the Plaza stayed put because it's a bit too big and heavy to move, but some of the trusty volunteers who help run the place proudly represented their illustrious Art Deco venue with an impressive display. I hope everyone bought something from them to help fund the ongoing restoration work!
The Plaza manager, Ted Doan, was also kind enough to offer two pairs of ticket vouchers as prizes in our Vintage Village Visitors' Awards for Traders 2013 presentation. So who won?
Third place - newcomers A Vintage Affair, who took home a prize certificate, bouquet and Plaza vouchers.
Second place - the delightful Button Fairies, who have been with us since the early days. They received a prize certificate, a bigger bouquet (!) and Plaza vouchers.
First place - everyone's favourite maestro of the cake art, Stuart Thornley Cake Design, who was actually attending another event! Fortunately his partner Al was here to receive a prize certificate, a bottle of champagne (which he promised to share) and a free stall for one month.
We might do this again next year, but I have to say that our lovely vintage traders need to up their game in terms of 'brand awareness' if they're hoping to beat our Stuart next time!News titbits over, let's get onto this month's Visitors' Gallery. Which is largely brought to you by - I'm so tempted to go into Sesame Street mode and say "the letter A", please ignore me and read on - @MrsToppings and @OoohBettyLoves, whose generous contributions have helped boost the numbers this month.
Congratulations to all!
